in the re-invention (partly as a park) of a failed project such as the Ottavi Park, a garden-neighbourhood planned in the 1980s by Isolarchitetti but left unfinished, as the market collapsed. Another example came from the ex-Officine Reggiane factory (which had employed up to 12,000 workers during the Second World War
in the production of planes) whose re-use was started thanks to popular participation from below. As Magnani states, «today it is a start-up technology park, where new applications for bio-methane and digital printers are studied». History and the future come together in the Palace of the Museums, an ex-civic museum re-invented by the architect-guru Italo Rota (see the interview).
